Physiotherapist, Newcastle Physiotherapy

Iwona graduated in Physiotherapy from the University of Sunderland in 2024 with a BSc (Hons) first class honours degree. Iwona was awarded The Ede and Ravenscroft Prize for the highest achiever on the course.

Originally from Poland, Iwona arrived in England in 2005 after graduating with a Master’s degree from the Academy of Physical Education and Sport in Gdansk. She began her career in England working as a Personal Trainer and Exercise Referral Trainer specialising in falls prevention including Otago Exercise Programme. She worked with the NHS Fall Clinic and the Age UK North Tyneside delivering Strength and Balance courses to those at risk of falls as well as for Versus Arthritis delivering exercise programmes aimed to reduce arthritis-related pain as well as to improve strength, mobility and functional movement.
To further advance her skills and to fulfil her passion for musculoskeletal practice and manual therapy, Iwona returned to university to complete a Physiotherapy degree. During her degree course, Iwona successfully completed placements in a variety of specialist areas including musculoskeletal, fracture clinic, post-operative hand rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation and paediatric rheumatology. She took additional external courses such as Activity First Aid and Sports Massage Therapy. Iwona is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and is registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council.

Iwona’s interest and passion for musculoskeletal practice and manual therapy come from personal experience. She was born with the developmental dysplasia of the hip and appreciates the benefits of rehabilitative exercise and manual therapy as a prevention and treatment for musculoskeletal conditions. Iwona is a self confessed addict to physical activity and exercise, she particularly like cycling and Yoga. In her spare time, Iwona enjoys watching crime documentaries.
